Hello, I was just wondering if there is a less-extreme/severe early stage of scoliosis? My school is doing a screening tomorrow and I would like to know if I have scoliosis ahead of time, just in case I do, so it won't be as much as a shock. My back isn't S or C shaped, my hips and shoulders are even, my head is in line, but I occasionally get back pains and I don't have the greatest posture. Is this early scoliosis, is there such a thing, and can this be easily fixed?

Hi,
So... you have some questions regarding scoliosis. Thanks for asking and I will do my best to answer.

There is something called the Adam's test...we call it the 'too late test'. Typically when they do a scoliosis screening at school they will have you bend forward and if there is a rib bump, the scoliosis is typically present.

Having the head in line, hips and shoulders level, and no visible changes are real good indicators that your spine is balanced. However, the only way to truly tell is by x-ray.

As far as correcting the scoliosis, if present, it is typically MUCH easier to correct in earlier stages. We at CLEAR do not prefer the wait and see approach, find it, stabilize it, then correct as much as possible!

I wish you all the best.
