Thanks Mary. Your sharing is really valuable to me. The only thing I'm worrying about is that my girl doesn't like doing exercises. How much time your daughter needs to spend on the traction chair and the other instructed exercises? I will let her try this treatment in Singapore in late June. Most grateful if somebody who has been treated by Dr Will Kalla can share his/her experience with me. Thank you!

You can also see a video of the complete treatment protocols in action! Click on "Resources," then "Video," and scroll down to the bottom for Cassie's DVD. It's a fairly large file, so we suggest either burning it on to a DVD (free software is provided), or starting the download in the evening before bed and viewing it in the morning.

Mary Lane, My daughter also did the 2 wk. intensive treatment. Will you please describe the walking with weights exercise and the spinal rehabilitation you do in a little more detail? I am wondering if this is something that my daughter would benefit from.:confused::unsure: thanks!!!!!

Dear ArchD, Thanks for giving me the advice. Would you mind telling me the curvature improvement of your daughter after the treatment? Did you do the follow-up by him as well. I've scheduled the treatment with Dr Kalla in late June. However, my daughter's cobb angle is serious (T11 to L3, 50 degrees). I would be grateful if you could share your experience in S'pore with me. I've lots of questions in my mind. Looking foward to receiving your reply. Thanks a lot! Dilys.

Hi Dilys Lau, My daughter has been treated by Dr Will Kalla. If your daughter's curves are not quite big, i.e, around 30, 40 degrees, then I think she can get good result. If more than that, you should seek treatment by someone else more experienced, I meant, in the US.

It takes Christina pretty much one hour a.m. and one hour p.m... 30 min. is in the traction chair, watching her favorite things on TV so she does not mind those minutes. Plus another 20 min. is walking with weights..we just recently had her start doing that on a tread mill...so for her it is great exercise, and burns the calories plus helps her scoliosis. I've seen girls read books while they do their walking. the spinal rehabilitation exercises only take 10 min. max.(once you get the routine down) So...that is how we get an hour morning and night The alternatives of brace or surgery were enough incentive for my daughter to adjust to this plan. Hi Dilys Lau, I know Dr. Dovorany (Wisconsin) has told me....... every case is so different..some curves start correcting quickly, some are trickier..and take longer. It is so individual..... because of rotation, severity of curve, and other things. The intensive 2 weeks really gives the body a good jump start on improving ALL the curves. My experience with my daughter (32T/36L ) has been STEADY IMPROVEMENT.....absolutely NO REGRESSION in the 11 months we have been doing the program. I will tell you, my daughter is CONSISTENT as grass in following her treatment plan...6 days a week she does everything as prescribed..we do take one day off a week (i. e. fri. night or sat. usually she is with friends and can't squeeze it in) If her curves were bigger ...I would NEVER let her miss. The at home program is KEY...as I can testify to the fact that the TRACTION CHAIR has been ,as Dr. Dovorany said to us, " her main defence" It has been so instrumental in loosening up her "tight" hump..her spine is so much more flexible and mobile.. her hump is at least 50% smaller...to say nothing of all the other improvements we are seeing...it has been a slow..steady (wonderful) evolution in reverse, so to speak. I hope this info. is of help to you...and others.

Dear tasa, I read your story with interest as my daughter has done the clear institute therapy with Dr. Dovorany (Wisconsin), and had great success. My main concern for your daughter is that she is still growing...and it is so much better to treat the curves when they are SMALLER. I would really keep an eye on her ... if her numbers start increasing, definitely start this therapy PRONTO!!! My daughter had jumped to 32/36... terrible pain(17 yrs. old) After a two week intensive Clear therapy treatment with Dr. Dovorany (Wisconsin) she was 19/20..but more importantly, her curves were stabilized to STOP them from INCREASING. Clear therapy addresses many issues regarding an unhealthy spine..whereas pilates is mainly a strenthening exercise. Best of luck to you! Mary Lane

I menaged to get second opinion from another specialist who is the head of orthopedic surgery and they did the measurements and exam again. Suprisingly ,measurement came out quite different , or to be accurate 9 degree less then previous measurement. This doctor strogly suggested brace (overnight) since my daughter is still growing. She is still doing pilates 1-2 times per week with program specifically designed for her back . We met another girl ( she is 22 ) who is profesionall dancer and never had surgery ...She is doing just fine with pilates . I have to stressed out that second opinion is a must , even a third ... It never hurt to hear from another doctor. At this moment , my daughter is OK with everything that we are doing now and hopefully it won't get any worse . If we have to do something else in near future i would definatelly go with non surgical treatment in Clear Institute since it looks like the best available treatment . The bad part is that there is none in Canada . I wish you all the best and let's keep in touch ... we could always learn something new that could help our daughters. take care,

My son is 11 years old and recently found he has scoliosis with a cobb angle of 49 degrees (thoracic) and 33 lumbar. We started looking for a non surgical alternative. We found CLEAR and Dr. Tony Nalda who is a certified specialist in Florida. After two weeks of intensive treatment and home exercises he showed significant improvement. My daughter is 15 years old and has scoliosos with Cobb angle of 49 degree . She's been diagnosed 4 months ago and at first we have been told that Pilates could help. She did Pilates 3 times per week and on top of that she is figure skater , very active and flexible . She could experience moderate pain occasionally .Other than that , she has no problems . I still don't consider surgery as the only solution and would like to hear from someone with similar experience ...
