Hello All,
I am currently 24 years old, female, and I had spinal fusion surgery for severe scoliosis almost 12 years ago.
The problem being, I was a very active teenager - I played golf, was on my varsity swim team for 4 years during high school, played softball and basketball.
Now, after college, and the "real world" of work and less physical activities, I have developed moderate to severe pain just above my right hip extending across my lower back and into the front of my hip.
I have about 3-4 lumbar vertebrae that are not fused (my ortho thought this was the best idea to give me a better range of motion).
I am not sure what my options are at this point in the game. I am regularly swimming now because my back feels the best after swimming.
During and after sleeping in bed I have the worst pain, most times I find it almost impossible to turn over from side to side while sleeping and have to actually pull myself to the side with my headboard.
Crazy!
Other than that I am healthy and happy.
I just do not want to be in pain anymore. It has been a year of pretty much daily pain.
Any thoughts or suggestions. Will chiropractic manipulations in my lower lumbar area be helpful even though the remaining part of my spine is fused??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much! |
