CLEARTM Institute Endorsed Treatment Guidelines

The guidelines provided are designed to promote and foster communication between the patient and the CLEARTM Scoliosis Center in which they are being treated or are considering treatment.  It is important to note that these are only recommended guidelines.  Your individual treatment plan may vary depending on your case’s individual needs.

Traditional treatment plan:

This type of treatment plan is the standard treatment plan used in most CLEARTM Scoliosis Centers.  It is most appropriate when the patient lives close enough to the treatment center for them to travel to and from the office for treatment on a regular basis.  The recommended and endorsed treatment guidelines for this treatment plan are:

  • 3 treatment appointments per week for a period of 6 weeks, followed by….
  • 2 treatment appointments per week for a period of 12 weeks, followed by…
  • Re-evaluation and further recommendations are appropriate at this time.

Intensive treatment plan:

Intensive treatment is characterized by multiple treatments provided on a daily basis over a 1 to 2 week period.  This type of treatment plan is most often recommended when a patient is unable to travel to and from a CLEARTM Scoliosis Center on a regular basis, or if the patient has a rapidly progressive curvature.  It should be noted that treatment centers providing this level of treatment must have achieved a separate certification from the CLEARTM Institute before being able to accept case’s into this type of treatment.  The recommend and endorsed treatment guidelines for this type of treatment are:

  • Patients with a curvature(s) less than 30 degrees requires 1 week of intensive care treatment.
Note: The use and/or purchase of a scoliosis traction chair for home use is at the discretion of the treating doctor.
  • Patient with a curvature(s) more than 30 degrees requires 2 weeks of intensive care treatment.  The purchase and home use of a scoliosis traction chair is mandatory in order for this patient to be accepted into treatment.
  • Re-evaluation and further recommendations are appropriate at this time.
